Job Description
Position Summary
The Respiratory Therapist Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing engaging lesson plans, and supporting students in achieving academic and clinical success within an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. This role ensures compliance with curriculum standards, fosters student retention, and prepares learners for careers in respiratory care through hands-on training and theoretical education.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Development

Develop, implement, and evaluate daily lesson plans aligned with program objectives and student needs.

Deliver lectures, labs, and practical demonstrations to enhance student comprehension and clinical skills.

Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and ensure student success.

Integrate technology (e.g., PowerPoint, simulation tools) to enhance instruction.
Student Support & Progress Monitoring

Track and analyze student attendance, submitting weekly reports to the office management department.

Proactively address absenteeism by coordinating with the Associate Director after two consecutive absences.

Monitor academic performance, provide individualized feedback, and implement strategies to reduce withdrawals.

Maintain an 80% or higher student success rate through academic advising and mentorship.

Document and submit final grades in accordance with institutional policies.
Program Enhancement

Organize guest lectures, field trips, and clinical site visits to enrich student learning.

Assist in coordinating externships and clinical rotations for students.

Stay current with industry trends, accreditation standards, and best practices in respiratory therapy education.
Compliance & Professionalism

Ensure all instruction adheres to state, federal, and accreditation requirements.

Maintain active RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) and state RCP (Respiratory Care Practitioner) licensure.

Uphold institutional policies and promote a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Education & Certifications

Required: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy (Bachelor’s preferred).

Graduate of a respiratory therapy program accredited by CoARC or recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

Licensure: Current RRT credential and state RCP license.
Experience

3+ years of clinical experience as a hospital/clinical respiratory therapist.

1+ year of teaching experience in an accredited program (preferred).
Skills & Abilities

Strong verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and learning management systems.

Ability to mentor students, manage classroom dynamics, and foster academic growth.

Hiring Hourly Salary: $28.19-35.23/hour (commensurate with experience).
