Your Mission: Training the Next Generation of Pharmacy Professionals

Are you a seasoned Pharmacy Technician ready to share your expertise? At Pima Medical Institute’s Las Vegas campus, the Pharmacy Technician Instructor is responsible for transforming students into skilled professionals. You will lead classroom lectures, conduct practical hands-on demonstrations, and serve as a mentor to students as they navigate the complexities of pharmacy law, pharmacology, and sterile compounding.

Essential Functions

  • Instruction & Delivery: Implement daily lesson plans and plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based on the established Pharmacy Technician curriculum.
  • Student Success: Monitor attendance and success rates. Implement retention plans to maintain a minimum 80% student success rate for all classes.
  • Practical Training: Prepare lectures and practical demonstrations for students, focusing on real-world pharmacy methods and techniques.
  • Mentorship & Advising: Assist and advise students on curriculum requirements and career paths. Meet with students to provide academic encouragement and support.
  • Grading & Records: Maintain accurate student grades and attendance reports weekly. Prepare final semester grades for student records and transcripts.
  • Community Engagement: Arrange guest speakers, community field trips, and visits to local pharmacies to provide students with industry exposure.
  • Operational Support: Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and coordinating student externships as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: * Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program (recognized by USDE or CHEA) OR
    • Graduation from a recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) OR
    • Exception: A minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for those who did not graduate from an accredited program.
  • Experience: At least three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience in a pharmacy practice setting.
  • Licensure: Current license, certification, or designation as required by Nevada state law to work in the Pharmacy Technician field (CPhT).
  • Skills: Strong verbal/written communication; proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
