Instruct and monitor students in the Dental Hygiene Program in accordance with the curriculum standards and objectives. Dental Hygiene Clinic Coordinators will oversee dental hygiene services provided by student dental hygienists and supervise clinic instructors as part of the Dental Hygiene Program. Dental Hygiene Clinic Coordinators may also provide didactic and laboratory instruction as part of the dental hygiene education program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in the recruitment of clinical faculty.
  • Serve as mentor and guide to clinical faculty.
  • Assist in training and calibration.
  • Conduct weekly clinical faculty briefings.
  • Assist the Clinical Director in the evaluation of clinical faculty performance.
  • Create student/faculty daily clinic assignment rotation schedule.
  • Conduct student orientation to clinic, labs, and clinic-related courses and requirements.
  • Develop and deliver classroom lectures, laboratory/clinical demonstrations, and activities as needed.
  • Take part in clinical instruction, student competency evaluations, and board(s) examination preparation.
  • Manage clinical evaluation system.
  • Track and monitor student progress and performance.
  • Schedule and conduct clinical advisement sessions with each student at midterm and end of the semester.
  • Supervise daily student clinical activities, including implementation of clinical policy and procedures, dental-related emergencies, student, faculty, and staff questions and concerns, patient concerns and relations, and student and faculty assignments.
  • Actively participate in clinic committee meetings.
  • Inform the Clinical Director of needed additions or modifications to clinical policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Clinical Director the clinic's daily operations and supplies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or certified by the appropriate agencies as a dental hygienist or a dentist.
  • Three (3) years experience as a dental hygienist or dentist preferred.
  • Must hold current dental or dental hygiene licenses, certifications, or other designations as required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the field.
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and dental computer software.
