Dental Hygiene Clinic Assistant

Location: Albuquerque, NM | On-Campus Pay Range: $17.84 – $21.40 / hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Sterilization Leadership: Oversee the preparation of instruments and sterilization procedures, ensuring 100% compliance with clinic disinfection standards.
  • Safety & Compliance: Assist with OSHA compliance, maintaining safety logs, and following strict radiological and health safeguards.
  • Inventory Control: Maintain the clinical supply inventory and handle ordering in coordination with the Clinical Director.
  • Chair-Side Support: Serve as a chair-side assistant for clinic dentists or hygienists as required during patient care.
  • Mentorship: Coordinate and train Dental Assisting externs on clinic flow and sterilization techniques.
  • Clinic Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep of lab equipment and track dental lab cases to ensure timely results.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Credentials: Must hold current licenses, certifications, or designations as required by New Mexico law to work in a dental setting (e.g., Radiation Health & Safety/DANB).
  • Knowledge: Strong familiarity with dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and OSHA clinical standards.
  • Communication: Ability to follow complex instructions and communicate effectively with students, staff, and the public.
  • Physical: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and navigate a busy indoor clinic environment.
