Veterinary Technician (Substitute) Instructor
Veterinary Technician Instructor
Location: Pima Medical Institute - Colorado Springs Campus
Position Type: Part-Time (20 Hours/Week)
Compensation: $31.00 – $38.75 per hour
Are You Ready to Share Your Veterinary Expertise in the Classroom?
You've spent years mastering the skills that keep animals healthy and their owners at ease — the clinical precision, the hands-on techniques, the calm under pressure that defines a great veterinary technician. Now imagine bringing that real-world experience into a classroom and watching students develop those same skills under your guidance. At Pima Medical Institute, that's exactly the kind of impact our instructors make.
We're looking for credentialed Registered Veterinary Technicians who are ready to step in, lead with confidence, and make a difference — on a part-time schedule that works around your life.
Key Responsibilities:
No two days are exactly alike, but here's what you can expect:
- Delivering assigned curriculum lessons and providing hands-on support in a veterinary laboratory setting.
- Guiding students through lab procedures and practical demonstrations, helping them build real confidence and clinical competency.
- Keeping the lab environment safe, organized, and professionally run — just like a clinical setting.
- Grading assignments and providing meaningful feedback that supports student growth.
- Monitoring student attendance and reporting as required.
- Ensuring all safety precautions are followed in both classroom and lab environments.
Minimum Requirements:
- Active RVT or CVT credential.
- Graduate of an AVMA CVTEA-accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- Minimum 3 years of practical veterinary technician experience.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate clinical knowledge into clear, effective instruction.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive Pay: $31.00 – $38.75 per hour.
- Approximately 20 hours per week — afternoon and evening shifts.
- Colorado Paid Sick Leave.
- Employee Discounts.
A Few Things to Know:
- You'll work in a classroom and lab setting with exposure to biohazardous materials (blood, saliva, urine) — standard for the field.
- The role requires the ability to lift, restrain, and demonstrate procedures per curriculum requirements, and use standard veterinary and office equipment.
This Is Your Opportunity.
If you're a credentialed veterinary technician who loves the idea of inspiring the next generation of VTs on a part-time schedule, we'd love to hear from you. Apply today and bring your expertise to a place where it truly matters.
Pima Medical Institute is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
