Compensation: $27.95 to $34.94 per hour
Position Summary
Are you a Certified Sterile Processing Technician looking to share your expertise and mentor future healthcare professionals? Pima Medical Institute is seeking a flexible, knowledgeable Sterile Processing Technician Substitute Instructor to join our Seattle campus faculty team on an as-needed (PRN) basis.
In this key substitute role, you will step in to deliver classroom lectures, lead practical sterile processing lab demonstrations, and evaluate core competencies when regular faculty members are away. This position offers an ideal opportunity to share your clinical mastery, guide adult learners, and maintain flexible teaching hours without full-time scheduling commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Substitute Instruction & Practical Labs:

Lesson & Lab Delivery: Step in as needed to deliver individual lesson plans and lead practical laboratory sessions covering decontamination, sterilization, instrumentation, and lab safety protocols.

Competency Verification & Grading: Evaluate student hands-on lab techniques, assess assignments, and grade course work within 72 hours using established evaluation tools.

Safety & Regulatory Standards: Supervise students in classroom and lab settings, ensuring strict adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE), biohazard handling, and safety guidelines.
Academic Support & Documentation:

Documentation & Attendance: Complete required student records, including attendance tracking, incident reports, and academic early alerts.

Student Advisory Support: Document academic or behavioral concerns as they arise and communicate promptly with campus academic leadership.

Compliance & Engagement: Participate in faculty development, in-service events, or program meetings scheduled during coverage periods.
Minimum Requirements

Education & Training:
-
Graduation from a Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology program accredited by an agency recognized by USDE or CHEA (or recognized hospital/international equivalent); OR

Minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience in sterile processing for non-graduates.

Occupational Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of occupational experience as a Sterile Processing Technician or in a closely related surgical/central service field.

Licensure & Credentials:

Active Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification.

Current license, certification, or designation required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the field.

Technical Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication skills; working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications:

Three (3) years of prior teaching or clinical instruction experience in sterile processing or allied health.
