Position Summary

You’ve spent years mastering the art of patient care—navigating high-pressure codes, fine-tuning ventilators, and celebrating victories with your patients. Now, imagine taking all that hard-earned expertise and multiplying its impact! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our San Marcos faculty as a full-time Respiratory Therapy Instructor.

In this rewarding academic role, you will deliver classroom lectures, lead high-fidelity lab simulations, and mentor students through complex clinical concepts. As an employee-owner at Pima Medical Institute, your work directly shapes the future of healthcare while building equity in your financial future through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Clinical Labs:

  • Lecture & Simulation Leadership: Deliver engaging lectures and facilitate hands-on laboratory exercises using modern simulation technology to prepare students for real-world clinical practice.

  • Curriculum Execution: Implement daily lesson plans aligned with program objectives and CoARC accreditation standards; integrate guest speakers and field trips to enrich learning.

  • Clinical Integration: Coordinate externship opportunities and bridge classroom theory with bedside application.

Student Success & Academic Administration:

  • Retention Coaching: Monitor student progress, advise students on academic paths, and provide proactive mentorship to maintain an 80%+ student success rate.

  • Academic Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate student grades, daily attendance records, and course documentation in compliance with institutional policy.

  • Institutional Involvement: Participate in faculty meetings, Advisory Board meetings, student orientation, and campus graduation ceremonies.

Minimum Requirements

    • Active Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential.

    • Active California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.

  • Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as an RRT in a hospital or acute care setting.

  • Education: Associate degree from a CoARC-accredited Respiratory Therapy program (or four [4] plus years of direct clinical experience in lieu of degree).

  • Technical Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching experience in an accredited respiratory therapy or allied health program.

Compensation & Employee-Owner Benefits

  • Hiring Range: $35.66 to $44.57 per hour.

  • Employee Ownership: Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)—earn equity in the company without personal financial investment.

  • Retirement: 401(k) Plan with up to a 10% Employer Match.

  • Healthcare Options: Comprehensive Medical (PPO & 2 HDHP options with HSA), Dental, and Vision coverage.

  • Financial Protection: Basic Life Insurance, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, HSA, and FSA options.

  • Work-Life & Growth: Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Sick Leave, Paid Holidays, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Tuition Reimbursement, and Health & Wellness Program rewards.
