Location: Pima Medical Institute - Aurora, CO Campus

Position Type: Part-Time (Approx. 18 Hours Per Week), Substitute/PRN Schedule (Fixed Days)

Compensation: $40.00 - $46.59 per hour

Pima Medical Institute is seeking highly skilled Registered Nurses to join our Practical Nursing Program faculty as a Clinical Instructor. This is a substitute (PRN) role that offers an exceptional opportunity to focus purely on hands-on teaching and skill development. You'll gain a competitive hourly rate ($40.00-$46.59/hr) by covering a predictable, fixed two-day academic schedule, free from demanding 12-hour shifts and weekend rotation.

Specific Part-Time Schedule (Fixed Coverage Days):

Total Commitment: Approximately 18 hours per week, dependent on coverage needs.

Clinical Supervision: Two days per week (Thursday and Friday), 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

This fixed, two-day schedule is perfect for clinicians seeking stability and a predictable routine for their PRN commitment.

Key Responsibilities (Hands-on Clinical and Program Support):

The Clinical Instructor is responsible for guiding and evaluating students in practical, real-world healthcare settings and supporting program governance.

  • Instruct students on clinical experiences and arrange for appropriate clinical experiences based on individual student needs.

  • Supervise the students in all clinical experiences and adhere to school and clinical facility policies and procedures.

  • Coordinate the clinical education for all students and evaluate the instruction provided by Clinical Faculty (ANIP and Clinical Faculty).

  • Monitor student progress weekly and coordinate with the Clinical Director to create Academic Success Plans.

  • Evaluate and document students' clinical performance, critical thinking, and technical skills mastery against established standards.

  • Conduct pre/post-conference discussions with students to link classroom theory to clinical practice.

  • Model professional nursing behaviors and maintain professional interaction with students, faculty, staff, and clinical site personnel.

  • Maintain currency in clinical practice and be apprised of changes in the nursing profession.

  • Attend faculty meetings unless otherwise excused.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

We seek highly qualified candidates committed to meeting CNEA and COBON faculty credentialing standards.

  • Education (Required): Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) OR Baccalaureate degree with a major in nursing plus current, active enrollment in a Master’s degree program in nursing, from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation.

  • Experience (Clinical): A minimum of 3 years of practical experience as a nurse providing direct patient care.

  • Experience (Teaching): A minimum of one (1) year of nursing teaching experience is required.

  • Licensure: Current, active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Colorado (or compact state license).

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort in a mentorship role.

  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and general computer skills.

Work Environment & Physical Demands (Essential Functions):

Candidates must be able to perform essential physical tasks required in clinical and lab settings:

  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods during an 8-10 hour shift.

  • Lift up to 20 pounds.

  • Push an occupied wheelchair, assist with patient transfers, and turn patients in a bed with or without the use of assistive devices.

  • Must be able to utilize medical equipment (e.g., stethoscope, intravenous pump, fetal monitor) and operate SSIM simulation equipment per guidelines.

  • Exposure to biohazardous materials (e.g., blood and saliva) is expected.
