Position Summary

Your Mission: Developing the Next Generation of Pharmacy Professionals

Are you a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) who finds joy in training new technicians on the floor? Transition your expertise into a rewarding academic career at Pima Medical Institute.

As a Pharmacy Technician Instructor, you aren't just teaching a curriculum; you are the bridge between textbook theory and real-world pharmacy practice. In this part-time evening role (10 hours per week), you will lead students through the complexities of pharmacology, dosage calculations, and sterile compounding, ensuring they enter the workforce as accurate, safe, and compassionate healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence:

  • Plan and deliver engaging evening lectures and practical demonstrations that achieve specific objectives based on the established curriculum.

  • Prepare didactic instruction and laboratory exercises that mirror modern pharmacy settings.

Student Success & Retention:

  • Maintain a target 80% student success rate for all assigned classes.

  • Monitor student attendance and implement proactive support plans to reduce student withdrawals.

Clinical Evaluation:

  • Assess student achievements in both classroom and lab settings, providing necessary provisions and remediation to meet individual learning needs.

Administrative Integrity:

  • Maintain accurate, confidential student records and prepare weekly attendance reports for campus leadership.

  • Manage and record student grades in accordance with institutional policy.

Mentorship & Program Collaboration:

  • Advise students on the Pharmacy Technician curriculum and career pathways.

  • Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to the ongoing improvement of instructional methods and lab exercises.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program recognized by the USDE or CHEA, OR a recognized hospital-based training entity.

    (Instructors who did not graduate from an accredited program must have at least four (4) years of job-related training and experience).

  • Practical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience in the Pharmacy Technician field.

  • Licensure & Certification: Current national CPhT certification and active Nevada State Board of Pharmacy registration/licensure as required by law.

  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic computer applications.
