Position Summary

Are you a skilled Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist looking to share your clinical expertise with the next generation of healthcare professionals? Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated, Full-Time Pharmacy Technician Instructor for our El Paso campus.

In this role, you will lead classroom lectures, facilitate hands-on laboratory demonstrations, and mentor students through their curriculum. You will play a vital role in student success, helping guide future pharmacy technicians from their first day of class through their transition into clinical externships and successful careers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Delivery: Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans, including scheduled activities, course materials, lectures, and practical demonstrations for students as a group or individually.

  • Objective-Driven Planning: Plan instruction to achieve specific learning objectives based on student needs and the established curriculum.

  • Attendance Monitoring: Monitor student attendance in the program, prepare weekly attendance reports, and coordinate directly with the Associate Director when a student is absent for two consecutive days.

  • Student Retention & Success: Review student success rates and implement proactive plans to reduce student withdrawals; meet with students individually to encourage retention, maintaining an 80% student success rate for all classes taught.

  • Academic Evaluation & Grading: Evaluate student performance regarding curriculum achievements, make necessary accommodations to meet distinct learning needs, and maintain student grades according to established policies.

  • Records & Transcripts: Prepare and process final grades at the end of each semester to accurately update student records and transcripts.

  • Student Advising: Assist, mentor, and advise students navigating the Pharmacy Technician program curriculum.

  • Community Engagement: Arrange and coordinate industry guest speakers, community field trips, and educational visits to local pharmacies.

  • Supply & Externship Support: Assist with inventory management and ordering of program supplies/equipment as needed, and assist with coordinating externship placements for Pharmacy Technician students.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education & Training: Graduation from an accredited Pharmacy Technician program OR a minimum of four (4) years of job-related training and experience for instructors who are not graduates of an accredited program.

  • Clinical Experience: Three (3) years of occupational (practical) experience in the practice setting or documented expertise in the Pharmacy Technician field.

  • Licensure & Credentials: Current, active license, certification, or other designation required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the Pharmacy Technician field in the state of Texas (e.g., Registered Pharmacy Technician / CPhT or Licensed Pharmacist).

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and standard computer applications.
