Location: Pima Medical Institute - Colorado Springs Campus
Position Type: Part-Time, Flexible Schedule (Morning or Afternoon coverage as needed)
Compensation: $31.00 - $38.75 per hour
SUMMARY
Pima Medical Institute is seeking a dedicated General Education Substitute Instructor to deliver foundational courses in a specific discipline. This role is responsible for implementing and evaluating curriculum, ensuring high student success rates, and providing a supportive learning environment. The instructor will cover non-MLT classes, including General Biology, Anatomy & Physiology, Math, Chemistry, and Communications.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
The General Education Instructor is central to student academic success, focusing on planning, delivery, and student monitoring.

Implement and evaluate daily lesson plans, including scheduled activities and materials.

Plan instruction to achieve specific objectives based upon student needs and established curriculum.

Maintain an 80% student success rate for all classes taught and meet with students to encourage retention and success.

Monitor student attendance daily; coordinate with the Student Services Coordinator, Associate Director, or Program Director when absences occur two days in a row.

Maintain student grades in accordance with established policies and prepare final grades at the end of each sequence.

Monitor student academic progress and inform the Student Services Coordinator, Associate Director, or Program Director when a student’s grade average for any course drops below 77%.

Monitor students in the classroom, provide necessary assistance, and ensure safety precautions are adhered to.

Working Conditions & Physical Tasks:

Working Conditions: Indoor office environment with regular contact with employees, students, and the public.

Physical Tasks: Requires hearing within normal range, ability to write, sort, separate, and file documents, and lift up to 20 pounds.

Equipment: May utilize office equipment such as telephone, copier, printer, and computer.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education (Required): Baccalaureate degree, with education in the specific courses being taught, from an academic institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Teaching Experience (Preferred): Secondary Education teaching credential and teaching experience OR Adult Education teaching experience preferred.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communications skills.
