Substitute Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor
Campus: El Paso Schedule: As needed, day shifts Status: Substitute/PRN Compensation: $31.00 to $38.75 per hour
We are seeking an experienced and student-focused Substitute Diagnostic Medical Sonography Instructor to support our El Paso campus on an as-needed basis. This role provides flexible scheduling and the opportunity to deliver high-quality instruction when coverage is required. Substitute instructors play a key role in maintaining instructional continuity, supporting student learning, and upholding program standards.
Essential Responsibilities

Lesson Planning Deliver prepared lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with the established curriculum. Maintain organized, engaging class sessions during instructor absences.

Instructional Delivery Teach course content through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.

Student Attendance Track attendance and report consecutive absences of two or more days to the Student Services Coordinator or Associate Director. Submit required attendance documentation.

Student Success Monitoring Support student retention by encouraging engagement and addressing academic concerns. Maintain awareness of the program’s 80 percent success benchmark.

Grading and Records Record grades in accordance with academic policies and submit final grades at the end of each sequence.

Performance Assessment Evaluate student performance in coursework and lab activities. Adjust instructional approaches to support learning outcomes.

Classroom and Lab Oversight Supervise students in the lab, ensuring proper technique, safety compliance, and professional conduct.

Academic Support Provide guidance on course material, reinforce key concepts, and assist students in meeting program expectations.

Externship Coordination Support Assist with externship coordination tasks when needed to ensure continuity of student experience.

Additional Duties Perform related instructional or administrative tasks as assigned to support program operations.
Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirements Associate’s degree from an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or CHEA.

Professional Experience Three years of practical experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or a closely related field.

Credentialing Active registration with a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g., RDMS) and credentials in one or more concentration areas such as AB or OB/GYN.

Licensure Current license, certification, or credential required by local, state, or federal regulations.

Communication Skills Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

Technical Skills Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and general computer applications.
