Compensation: $85,000 – $117,000 per year
Position Summary
Shape the future of sonography education at Pima Medical Institute! We are seeking an experienced Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to serve as Clinical Director for our Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program at our Phoenix campus.
In this high-impact academic leadership role, you will bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world clinical practice. You will pioneer new clinical partnerships across local medical facilities, manage student clinical placements, instruct core curriculum, and mentor the next generation of skilled sonographers.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Site Coordination & Development:

Site Expansion: Identify, secure, and evaluate new clinical education sites and contractual agreements with regional healthcare partners.

On-Site Supervision: Conduct student clinical orientations, visit clinical affiliates regularly to assess student progress, and collaborate with site instructors to ensure educational quality.

Clinical Planning: Develop clinical learning objectives, establish site assignment schedules, and coordinate competency evaluations.
Teaching & Instruction:

Didactic & Lab Facilitation: Prepare lesson plans, instruct courses in DMS methods and techniques, and serve as a core classroom or lab instructor.

Competency Tracking: Monitor student clinical logs, radiation exposure records, and practical skill evaluations.
Program Leadership & Administrative Compliance:

Curriculum Alignment: Coordinate clinical and didactic education plans, recommending curriculum enhancements to the Program Director.

Student Retention: Track student academic progress and implement support plans to maintain an 80%+ student success rate.

Grade Management: Maintain accurate student academic records and prepare final semester grades according to institutional policies.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree from an accredited institution recognized by the USDE or CHEA (Bachelor’s degree preferred).

Required Credential: Active Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) credential in good standing through ARDMS.

Specialty Registries: Active specialty credential(s) in Abdomen (AB) and/or Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN).

Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of full-time professional experience as a Sonographer (General, Cardiac, Pediatric Cardiac, and/or Vascular).

Teaching Competency: Demonstrated proficiency in instructional methodologies, student supervision, and learning assessment.

Licensure: Active state licensure or credentials as required by local, state, or federal laws.

Technical & Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
