Pay Range: $31.00 – $38.75 per hour

Are you ready to transition your clinical mastery into the classroom? As a Dental Hygiene Instructor, you are the bridge between dental theory and professional practice. You will lead classroom (didactic) instruction, develop engaging lesson plans, and mentor students through the rigorous academic requirements of the Dental Hygiene program, ensuring they meet the high standards required for state licensure and professional success.
Essential Functions
- Classroom (Didactic) Leadership: Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with established curriculum objectives and CODA standards.
- Curriculum Engagement: Implement daily lesson plans and active learning activities that support critical thinking and professional development.
- Assessment & Feedback: Develop, implement, and grade examinations and projects, providing substantive feedback to help students maintain the required 77% grade average.
- Academic Advocacy: Monitor attendance and performance, providing academic advisement and tutoring in coordination with the Program Director.
- Clinical Crossover: When assigned, supervise and evaluate students in preclinical, clinical, or laboratory environments to ensure didactic principles are reinforced through hands-on practice.
- Compliance & Records: Maintain accurate records of student performance and assist in the preparation of accreditation reports and institutional documentation.
- Collaboration: Attend faculty meetings and calibration sessions to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and clinical expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree from an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA.
- Credentialing: Must be a dental hygienist or dentist who graduated from a CODA-accredited program.
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience as a dental hygienist or dentist.
- Licensure: Must hold and maintain a current New Mexico license (Dental or Dental Hygiene) and all required certifications (including CPR).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and educational technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous instructional experience in a CODA-accredited program.
- Experience with Dentrix or Eaglesoft.

- Setting: Classroom and clinical environments.
- Safety: Exposure to biohazardous materials, radiation, and chemical agents; requires strict adherence to radiological procedures and protective safeguards.
Compensation & Benefits
