Where: Chula Vista, CA
Schedule: Evening Classes (6 pm to 10 pm)
What you'll do:
- Mentor Future Pros: Guide and teach dental assisting students in the evenings using hands-on techniques and real-world experience.
- Support Student Success: Provide one-on-one advice and grading during and after class, helping students master clinical skills.
- Coordinate Externships: Leverage your local network to help place evening students in quality externship sites.
- Maintain Safety: Enforce safety and security standards in the lab and classroom during evening hours.
- Collaborate: Work with admissions and career services on evening events and student activities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Dental Assistant program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or a graduate of an otherwise recognized training entity (e.g., hospital-based program) in Dental Assisting or an institution located outside of the United States and its territories in Dental Assisting or a minimum of three (3) years of job-related training and experience for those instructors who are not graduates from an accredited Dental Assistant program.
- A minimum of two (2) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience in Dental Assisting.
- Proficient in didactic and clinical four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry principles.
- Aware of state requirements governing dental assisting programs.
Required licences and certifications:
- Nationally Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), or licensed dentist. Licensed dentists are not required to hold the CDA or RDA credential.
- Must have completed a course or certification program in the educational methodology of at least 30 hours, or hold one of the following:
- Postgraduate degree in education
- Ryan Designated Subjects Vocational Education Teaching Credential
- Standard Designated Subjects Teaching credential
- Community college teaching credential
- Additional California certification required:
- Radiation Safety
- Coronal Polishing
- Pit and Fissure Sealant
- Current license, certification, or another credential required by local, state, or federal laws to work in the Dental Assistant field.
