Are you a natural matchmaker who loves seeing people succeed? As a Career Services Advisor at our Houston campus, you are the vital link between Pima Medical Institute and the local healthcare community. Your mission is two-fold: facilitating high-quality externship placements for our certificate students and assisting all graduates in securing professional medical employment. This is a fast-paced, consultative role that combines sales, recruitment, and student mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
Externship & Employment Placement
- Market Development: Proactively acquire new externship sites through cold calling, direct telephone sales, networking via professional associations, and leveraging alumni/faculty connections.
- Student Matchmaking: Pair students with the optimum externship site based on skills/assessment checklists and instructor input.
- Placement Coordination: Coordinate externship interviews and complete site assignments directly with site supervisors.
- Clinical Monitoring: Conduct site visits to monitor student progress, facilitate midterm and final evaluations, and oversee required actions to overcome challenges.
- Career Coaching: Conduct workshops on resume and cover letter writing, networking, interviewing techniques, and soft skills improvement.
- Graduate Support: Advise not-yet-placed graduates on optimizing job search activities and maintaining lists of available job openings.
Administrative & Compliance
- Documentation Audit: Ensure all requisite documentation (background checks, CPR/OSHA/HIPAA certifications, immunizations, etc.) is complete before placement.
- Data Integrity: Record student attendance, telephone call logs, and marketing efforts daily within Campus Nexus.
- Reporting: Generate placement reports from Campus Nexus to monitor student outcomes and detail results versus goals.
- Institutional Governance: Participate in Advisory Board meetings, sharing statistical data regarding retention and placement.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience: At least two (2) years of recruitment or staffing experience.
- Education: Associate degree preferred (accredited by an agency recognized by the USDE or CHEA).
- Technical Skills: Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and video-conferencing tools.
- Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum qualifications will be considered.

- Hourly Pay: $20.80 – $24.96 per hour.
